What is Memory?
---------------
Memory is the computer translation of the well known `remember the sequence'
game. I first decided to create this program years ago, but at this time I
was creating a lot of little programs without ever finishing any of them.
I was recently browsing through my old data disks and found the beggining of
what should have been this great game. At that moment I said to myself it was
about time I finish this program. I had to rewrite the whole thing since the
original version was in GW-BASIC but I decided to do it and created this game.
Even if it was originally designed for my personnal use, I have tought that
there may be other people who would like to get this kind of game to their
home computers so I released it on the shareware market. Don't forget to read
instructions on how to register at the end of this document.
Getting started
---------------
Switch to the directory where Memory is installed and, at the DOS prompt, type
the word Memory and press Enter.
You will be greeted with the Oracle Software logo then the program will show
you a menu. The first time you enter the game, it would be a good idea to read
the instructions and the "Read This!" topic. Just press the hilighted letter
to choose an option. When you're ready, just start the game by pressing 'P'.
Playing the game
----------------
At the main game screen simply press the spacebar to start a new game. The
Esc key will send you back to DOS. Once the game is started, you just have to
repeat the light combination created by the computer by pressing the indicated
keys (F1 thru F4). While playing the game, pressing the spacebar will pause
the game until it is pressed again. The Esc key will stop the game once
started.
Disclaimer of warranty
----------------------
Memory is provided as is with no warranty of any kind, neither express nor
implied. Richard Martin and Oracle Software are not to be held responsible
for any damage that could be caused by this software (altough I really don't
see how it could attack your computer).
Registering
-----------
If you like Memory and decide to continue to use it, please register your copy
by sending 5 $US (7 $CAN) to the address below. The program is not crippled
in any way and registering will not get you any extra options, but you will
encourage the shareware concept and help shareware authors produce better
software that will be available on the shareware market. You will also get a
clean conscience and the satisfaction of helping shareware authors to bring
even better softwares to the world of today's computers.
